Outfitter Satellite has carefully tested a variety of solar panels and rechargeable batteries and selected the best solutions for our products.  Click here for a list of  solar panels and battery packs that we typically stock.   Larger fold-up panels up to 150 Watt are available as custom orders (allow 4-8 weeks). 

If you have a small handheld satellite phone such as a Thuraya XT or Iridium 9555 or Iridium 9575, we recommend a 6-Watt fold-up solar panel and a rechargeable battery (such as pictured below).  This combination will let you slowly charge the battery pack during the day and recharge your satellite phone any time day or night -- with good clean steady power.   

It is possible to charge these phones directly from a 12-Watt or higher wattage solar panel as long as there is uninterrupted sunlight.  Unfortunately clouds and shadows will cause voltage variations which can be harmful to the satellite phone.  Again, we recommend using solar panels in concert with a rechargeable battery pack.   Then, charge your electronics from the battery pack.
