The Compact-M is the smallest, lightest Inmarsat-M satellite telephone available. Similar in size and weight to most Mini-M terminals, the Compact-M offers significantly improved coverage in all ocean regions in addition to 4.8Kbps voice in STUIII mode.
Inmarsat M coverage is especially important for applications near the Artic circle or the Antartic circle where Inmarsat Mini-M coverage begins to fade. Inmarsat M is also important in certain ocean regions not covered by Inmarsat Mini-M, especially in the southern Pacific region.
Options include an external antenna and an external battery. The external all-weather antenna can be self-standing or pole-mounted. The unit does not include an internal battery but can be operated from 12 VDC power. The external battery is recommended for portable applications.
