Hughes Network Systems HNS-9201 - Frequently Asked Questions

INTERNET/DATA:  The HNS-9201 by Hughes Network Systems is the smallest full performance class I BGAN (about the size of a laptop PC). It offers a USB port, an Ethernet port, and an ISDN port. It also has a 802.11b Wi-Fi port for wireless connection to your PC. The HNS-9201 can support up to 11 simultaneous users, including users connected through a wireless router. The HNS-9201 is a class 1 BGAN offering up to 492 kbps standard IP internet access and 32 kbps, 64 kbps, 128 kbps, 256 kbps, and Xstream streaming IP data.  The standard IP data performance is offered on a shared bandwidth best effort basis. In lightly contested environments, Outfitter Satellite's measurements typically find that Standard IP performance is 350 to 400 kbps.

VOICE SERVICES:  An optional HNS terminal adapter is available to provide an RJ-11 phone port for use with standard phone and G3 fax machines.  A low-cost external mounting kit with 30-meter cables is available, and the HNS-9201 is designed for all weather conditions.  The external mounting kit will survive up to 100 mph winds.
