THRANE AND THRANE EXPLORER 100- Frequently Asked Questions

The Thrane & Thrane EXPLORER 100 (originally the Nera WorldPro 1000) is the smallest  and lightest BGAN.  It weighs only 2.2 lbs and is roughly half the size of a typical notebook computer.  For this reason, it is featured as a key rental BGAN terminal by Outfitter Satellite.   We offer the rental equipment with a pre-configured NetBook computer to make it ready to use when it hits the field.

INTERNET/DATA:  The EXPLORER 100 offers data access via either a USB port or wirelessly via BlueTooth.   It is a class III BGAN offering up to 384 kbps download speed and up to 240kbps upload in standard IP mode.  Streaming data speeds up to 64 kbps streaming is available.

VOICE SERVICES:  An optional BlueTooth handset is available, with a range of about 50 to 60 feet from its inside unit.   Outfitter Satellite also offers an optional terminal adapter for use with conventional "corded" phones.  The inside unit can be separated from the antenna unit by up to 20 meters using an optional antenna cable.
